A modern life is a race with little time to rest and relax. The best way to escape from all problems and worries that you have is to read a few pages of an interesting book, while sitting in a cozy chair. Such a quiet resting place has to reflect your traits of character, personal tastes and style. Here are six easy rules, by following which you`ll be able to create a small world within your home.

1. The right place

Reading corner doesn`t necessarily have to be in the corner of the room.

In most cases, reading corner is not space-consuming at all. It is usually situated in the quiet area of bedroom, living room or kitchen. Before making a final choice you need to make sure that it looks good as a part of your already existing room and complements its style, theme and planning. The noise level and privacy are aspects that should be taken into consideration, too.

2. Comfortable place to sit

There are many types of seating to choose from.

Now it is high time to decide on the seating type you like. Of course, you can simply buy a chair of which you have dreamt for a long time. Many people like the traditional idea of just having a table and a chair. However, the option of placing a sofa with cushions near the window is definitely worth considering.

3. Shelves – shelves – shelves

It is impossible to have too many shelves.

You also need to decide how many shelves you`ll need to have. It should be based on the size of your home library, your desire to exhibit and share small things that you collect and many other factors. All in all, there are two ways to solve this problem: either to create a home library with all books you have at home or to leave there only those books that are currently being read. In the second case the racks won`t be needed.

4. Lighting

Lighting is a right combination of form and functionality. You will need both accent lighting and the sunlight. Floor standing lamps are a great choice, but if you are worried about space saving, consider choosing stylish compact luminaries.

5. A footrest.

A small coffee table is a necessity as sometimes you will want to have a cup of coffee or tea while reading. If the amount of space doesn`t allow to do this, consider choosing a tiny round table or a folding table that can be attached to the wall. However, your reading corner will be even more comfortable with the help of a footrest.

6. Individuality

Don`t forget about décor.

Your favorite picture, quotations from the books you like, family portraits will add individuality to your reading corner. Even a small potted plant will make it warmer and more personal.
