On the outskirts of Berlin there are two treehouses close to two picturesque lakes that were designed and fulfilled by the grandfather and his grandson. Both houses have an area of 24 square meters and represent a perfect pattern of country dwelling built in urban area.
Architects of Baumraum company helped to realize an idea of building the urban treehouse of the grandfather Hans-Joachim Stegenmann and his grandson Kolja that own a land plot on the outskirts of Berlin (Germany). Owners wanted to have a wooden house built in the natural environment in combination with modern furniture and being comfortable for staying in it.
Architects have made up an idea of a building of two houses (Urban Treehouse) with the area of 24 square meters each. There are all facilities in it that are necessary for a comfortable time spending at the weekends or just to have some relax-time in the countryside:a living-room,a bedroom, a bathroom with a tropical shower, a totally equipped kitchen, the TV-set and Wi-Fi. Sofa’s sections can be moved together forming one big bed and store the stuff in special storing spaces under the seats.
In spite of its name Treehouse («A house of a tree»), constructions are not supported by the trunks but recline galvanized frames, coated by larch planks. A firm assembly of five-layer pine panels is used for the walls, ceilings and floors. Used materials are ecologically pure.
Unfortunately, a mastermind Hans-Joachim Stegenmann didn’t live that long to see the completion of the houses, for he was in a very old age. That is why 2 Treehouses were made in his and his spouse honor.
This treehouse is not the only one dwelling of that kind. In Japan for example there was not only one house built on a tree, but the whole restaurant.
