When you hear from somebody the words combination “king size bed” you should remember that it can mean different beds. Initially king bed is a very large unit which is designed to an extra comfortable sleeping of a person. In reality beds of this size are made for couples who sleep together but choose some little more privacy than spouses choosing queen beds.
So, what is the difference between king size beds?
Classic variant of this bed in American standard is a unit for night sleeping which is 76 inches in its width and 80 inches in its length. The other one is called California, or California king bed. With its length of 84 inches it fits better people who are taller. The width of the unit (72 inches) does not influence the comfort of a sleeping on it person.
European bed in king size slightly differs from its American siblings, being 72×78 inches in its dimensions. The largest one from the beds which are called king size is a Split or Grand King bed. This construction has got two sections which are combined into one piece, so the split adds some additional space. This bed is 80 inches wide and 98 inches long. The large king size beds, of course require spacious dorms. So that if this bed is bought for a small sleeping room it may take too much space. However, some owners of mini bedrooms do it on purpose.
They order beds in king size, and their dorm is “filled” by this bedding. The mounted TV on the wall and a high end coffee table to place a lamp there or a nightstand together with the bed taking all room space create a real tiny paradise for a lazy rest and sleeping.
Big king beds are also loved by children who are allowed to play there when parents are out.
