Very often in post-apocalyptic science fiction films the main heroes are forced to move for living in underground shelters. The architectural company has decided to turn this project into reality. The old military bunker was re-designed into a country house. Despite the modest size of the shelter (11 quare meters only), it is a perfect place for relaxing during the weekends.
Belgian architectural company B-ILD has reconstructed the underground bunker in the Netherlands into a country holiday home for renting. The area of this house is only 11 square meters.
The main room square is 9 meters. The ceiling height is 1.8 meters. This is a living room and dorm in one room. The housing features only the most necessary and functional custom-made furniture. There are 2 bunk beds with drawers for clothes. Stools can also be used as bedside tables or nightstands. The warm color of the wooden furniture adds comfort to this gray concrete room. The kitchen is located in a small sized corridor.
Since the bunker is located in the green array Fort Vuren, its architects arranged an open terrace beside the house. There you can relax on the open air. The size of this terrace is the same as the shelter square. Thus you can compare these areas to estimate the real housing size.
There is also another former military bunker, located in Germany which was transformed into a green power Energy Bunker.
